Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is an in-depth training developed by LivingWorks that prepares individuals to provide suicide first-aid intervention using the evidence-based Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) model. Backed by numerous peer reviewed studies and government reports, ASIST is recognized in SAMHSA’s and the Suicide Prevention Resource Center’s national registry of best practices, and it is often referred to as the "gold standard" in suicide intervention training. Although many professional caregivers use ASIST, anyone 16 or older can learn these life-saving skills.
Community Action Poverty Simulation
Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families in America. For some people, unless you've experienced poverty, it's difficult to truly understand. The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) bridges that gap from misconception to understanding. CAPS is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty.
Foundations of Trauma Informed Care
This Trauma Informed Oregon training provides foundational knowledge appropriate for individuals across sectors and job titles. After defining key terms, including stress, trauma and systemic oppression, we explore how trauma and adversity affect individual’s access to services. Participants begin to identify how service systems, often unknowingly, retraumatize survivors of complex trauma. We highlight the difference between trauma specific services and trauma informed care, and practice reframing behaviors from a trauma informed lens.
